VSPV and the Taxpayers' Federation expand cooperation.

The mobility association VSPV and the Taxpayers' Federation want to cooperate even more closely in the future. At the center are economic policy issues, the interests of small and medium-sized enterprises, and questions of mobility and infrastructure policy. For VSPV members, the cooperation also brings a concrete added value: They will receive one year of free access to the services of the Taxpayers' Federation.

The Association of Private Commercial Road Passenger Transport (VSPV) is expanding its network in Berlin. In a meeting with Reiner Holznagel, president of the Federation of Taxpayers (BdSt), VSPV managing directors Sascha Waltemate and Patrick Meinhardt, General Authorized Signatory and head of the Berlin office, agreed on further steps toward closer cooperation.

The talks build on existing contacts between the two organisations. While Waltemate has long been in exchange with the North Rhine-Westphalia state association of the Federation of Taxpayers, Meinhardt is driving the expansion of relations in Berlin. The VSPV has, with its Berlin office, meanwhile become a member of the Berlin state association.

Voice of the SME Sector

For the Mobility Association, the cooperation goes far beyond transport policy topics. The association sees itself not only as an advocacy group for taxi and rental-car companies, but also as the voice of the SME sector.

“We are, as VSPV, clearly an advocacy group for taxi and rental cars, for the entire mobility sector, and we are, of course, also an SME association that formulates economic-policy demands for its members and the entire industry. And the SME sector is, unfortunately, the neglected child and the cash cow of politics. Therefore, contact with the Taxpayers' Federation is so important to us, as it, in this sense, scrutinizes the decisions of federal politics and thus is one of the strongest advocacy groups in Berlin's political scene,” explain Meinhardt and Waltemate.

A visible result of the talks is a new pilot partnership. As of September 1, 2026, all VSPV members receive for one year free-of-charge access to the services of the Taxpayers' Federation. These include, among other things, information, advisory and seminar offerings. Waltemate sees benefits for both sides:

“Our members can use the Taxpayers' Federation's seminar, information and advisory offerings—and the Taxpayers' Federation can persuade our members, through these services, to become regular members after the no-fee year.”

Added value for VSPV members

The Taxpayers' Association also attaches great importance to the exchange with industry associations. Especially in questions of mobility and infrastructure policy, the association sees practical benefits in cooperation with the VSPV.

"We collaborate within the framework of the Alliance of Associations; through our state associations there is additional contact, and we have scheduled regular in-person meetings, as we would like to incorporate the VSPV's expertise especially in mobility and infrastructure issues into our work. And for our annually published Black Book we also include examples from the taxi and rental car industry," says BdSt president Reiner Holznagel.

For the VSPV, the cooperation is another step to strengthen its position as the representative of the taxi and rental car industry in economic and financial policy issues. At the same time, the industry gains an additional channel through the Taxpayers' Association to draw attention to policy missteps and bureaucratic burdens.
