For the Taxi and Rental Car Association Germany (TMV), the chief executive Patrick Meinhardt stated: “Following the scandal in Berlin with 1700 illegal rental cars, illegal employment, social security fraud, and endangerment of customers due to a lack of insurance coverage, the major raid in Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Württemberg, and Berlin has uncovered the next abysses with Uber & Co. Now, decisive action must be taken. Therefore, we are demanding a five-point immediate plan.”

1. TSE to Bring Clarity at Uber & Co.

The TMV demands that the Uber app be immediately removed from the market until a TSE approved by the Federal Ministry of Finance is integrated. Only in this way can legal requirements be met and criminal activities prevented.

2. Prohibit Platform Operation

Secondly, the TMV demands that the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) immediately examines to prohibit Uber & Co from operating such platforms and initiates a comprehensive investigation.

3. Coordinate Authorities

Thirdly, the TMV expects the Conference of Transport Ministers together with the Federal Ministry of Transport to establish a task force to coordinate further consistent action in collaboration with tax authorities, prosecutorial authorities, customs, and all necessary authorities.

4. Minimum Tariffs Must Be Introduced

According to the TMV, it is overdue for the Transport Committee of the German Bundestag to address the current situation at the latest after the federal election and to agree on urgently needed measures concerning the Public Transport Act or regulations and joint federal-state guidelines on minimum tariffs to defend the values of our Social Market Economy and the Honest Merchant against predatory capitalists.

5. Stop Subsidies for Uber Activities

Patrick Meinhardt adds: "And fifthly, we consider it urgently necessary to have a clear code of conduct and a self-commitment by politics, economy, and society to immediately end excesses like the financing of an Uber-arena, an Uber-square, or events that also receive subsidies from the federal or state governments."
