Kia expands its offering in the area of the so-called Platform-Beyond-Vehicle vehicles and now also offers the all-electric minibus “PV5 Passenger” in Germany as a six- and seven-seater. According to the manufacturer, the expansion complements the previously available five-seater version and targets both families and providers of commercial passenger transport. At the same time, Kia will introduce several technical and comfort-related improvements for all variants for the 2027 model year.

New seating configurations for different use cases

The new six-seater features a seating arrangement of one-two-three and, according to the manufacturer, was developed especially for commercial passenger transport. The seven-seat version uses a two-two-three seating configuration and is intended to appeal to larger families as well.

The nearly 4.70-meter-long electric minibus is based on Kia's E-GMP.S platform. The completely flat vehicle architecture enables a variable interior concept and generous space. Kia cites legroom of up to 1,041 millimeters, headroom of up to 1,076 millimeters, and shoulder room of up to 1,732 millimeters for the new variants.

Standard sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle, as well as low entry sills of 399 millimeters, are intended to facilitate access to the interior. In total, there are four ISOFIX mounting points available.

Flexible interior layout and high everyday practicality

Kia also relies on flexibility when it comes to cargo volume. The six-seater offers 350 liters of luggage capacity behind the third row, as well as an additional 315 liters of storage space beside the driver. In the seven-seater, cargo volume grows from 318 to up to 785 liters when the rear seats are folded down.

For the 2027 model year, several detail improvements have also been implemented. These include a height-adjustable armrest on the driver's seat, automatic vehicle locking when the driver leaves, and standard LED cargo area lighting on the five-seater.

Up to 412-kilometer range

The PV5 Passenger is offered with 51.5- and 71.2-kWh batteries. For the five-seater with the larger battery, Kia specifies a range of up to 412 kilometers. The range figures for the new variants are to follow at a later date.

Both battery versions can be charged at fast-charging stations from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes, according to the manufacturer. In addition, Kia announces an optional 22-kilowatt on-board charger for all variants. For the six- and seven-seaters, the option is expected to be available in Q3 2026, for the five-seater in Q1 2027.

Tow operation and mobile power supply

Unlike many other electric vehicles, the PV5 Passenger is also designed for towing. The version with the 71.2-kWh battery is permitted to tow braked trailers up to 1,500 kilograms. With the smaller battery, towing capacity is 750 kilograms. Unbraked trailers may weigh up to 750 kilograms with both variants.

Additionally, the vehicle can supply power to external devices via a 230-volt socket using the V2L function.

Digital platform for fleets and commercial users

The infotainment system is based on Android Automotive OS and provides access to the Pleos App Market. Over-the-air updates as well as integration into fleet management systems are also part of the feature set.

Standard equipment includes, among other things, navigation and infotainment system, automatic climate control, rear-view camera, LED headlights, digital instrument cluster, parking sensors, as well as numerous driver assistance systems. These include an adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, a highway assist, and a front collision warning with turning function.

Prices start at 38,390 Euro

The prices of model year 2027 begin at 38,390 Euro for the five-seat PV5 Passenger with a 51.5-kilowatt-hour battery. The seven-seat starts at 40,190 Euro. For the six-seater Kia asks at least 41,540 Euro. The larger battery costs 4,000 Euro extra.

Warranty coverage includes seven years manufacturer's warranty or 150,000 kilometers as well as eight years battery warranty or 160,000 kilometers. Production of the new model year begins in mid-July 2026.

In addition, Kia cooperates with the upfitter Intax in a time-limited promotion for taxi conversions. The special offer applies to 30 vehicles and runs until September 30, 2026.

With a view to the further development of its PBV strategy, the manufacturer, according to its own statements, plans the introduction of the PV7 in 2027 as well as the PV9 in 2029. (Source: Kia)
