Only a three-cent difference remains: diesel almost back to prewar level.

Fuel prices in Germany have continued to fall, according to ADAC. The decline was especially pronounced for diesel. A liter cost 1.776 euros on Wednesday in the nationwide daily average, and was thus only three cents above the level on February 27, the last day before the war in Ukraine began. Super E10 averaged 1.84 euros per liter and was thus 6.2 cents more expensive than before the war began.

Declines in diesel and Super E10

According to the traffic club, the diesel price fell by 2.1 cents per liter from the previous day. Diesel had already recorded its ninth price drop in a row. Within a week, the fuel price fell by 7.6 cents per liter.

Also Super E10 became cheaper. The price was 1.4 cents below the previous day's value on Wednesday. For Super E10, it was the fifth decline in a row. In the week-over-week comparison, there is a decrease of 3.1 cents per liter.

Further price reductions on Thursday

Early data from Thursday morning suggested a continuation of the trend. At 8:45 a.m., the diesel price, according to ADAC, was 1.9 cents below the value at the corresponding time the previous day. For Super E10, the decline was one cent per liter.

If this development continues, diesel could fall below the pre-war price level in the coming days.

Fuel discount affects comparison

However, the comparison with the prices before the start of the war is only of limited significance. A key factor is the fuel discount, which, according to ADAC, reduces the tax burden by 16.7 cents per liter of fuel.
