TMV appoints Tino Schopf and Michael Donth as taxi ambassadors

The two politicians have been advocating for the taxi industry for years - whether it's about fare corridors, minimum prices, or the fight against Uber & Co. The taxi and rental car association has now honored the special commitment of Schopf and Donth.

The TMV had long considered how to honor personalities from politics, business, and society who are particularly connected to the taxi and rental car industry, and ultimately express heartfelt thanks for their commitment, explained TMV President Thomas Kroker and TMV Chief Executive Patrick Meinhardt.

And so the TMV presidium decided to award the honorary title of "Taxi Ambassador" in the future in recognition of merits and to make this visible to all with a TMV certificate.

The text of the TMV certificate emphasizes this appreciation with the following words:

“With this award, the Taxi and Rental Car Association of Germany honors the extraordinary commitment. Fairness, the commitment to the principles of the honorable merchant, and a consistent advocacy for fair framework conditions characterize the internal attitude, the human and personal manner, and the passion for a sustainable mobility policy, particularly for strengthening the innovative public transport in which taxis are an essential component. The TMV is deeply grateful and highly respects this commitment, which expresses a great deal of dedication, enthusiasm, and connection to the family of taxi and rental car companies.”

There was unanimous approval in the TMV presidency for the first two personalities as well: The spokesman for mobility and transport of the SPD faction in the Berlin House of Representatives, Tino Schopf, and the transport politician of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, Michael Donth, are the first two taxi ambassadors.

Thomas Kroker and Patrick Meinhardt personally presented this honor to Michael Donth at the Paul Löbe House of the German Bundestag. Michael Donth has been a reliable and straightforward promoter of a medium-sized taxi and rental car culture for years and is a fair political contact for all issues, from inclusion taxis to public transport taxis, from technology openness in propulsion systems to qualification, from the debureaucratization of calibration to tariff corridors and minimum tariffs, who considers the interests of the industry.

The TMV was able to truly surprise Michael Donth with this honorary title:

“I would like to sincerely thank the TMV. This honor comes completely unexpectedly for me, and that’s why I am all the more delighted. I will gladly bear the title of Taxi Ambassador and give this certificate a place of honor.”

Tino Schopf was also visibly moved by this honor. Together with the chairman of the Berlin Taxi Guild, Leszek Nadolski, TMV President Thomas Kroker and Chief Executive Patrick Meinhardt presented the certificate in the Berlin House of Representatives in the presence of SPD parliamentary group chairman Raed Saleh, and subsequently met with the Senator for Economic Affairs and Mayor Franziska Giffey.

Tino Schopf, who also actively discussed the developments in Berlin with taxi entrepreneurs in a TMVdirect and at the European Taxi Fair in Cologne, is the nationwide transport politician for the TMV who shows Uber & Co the red card, has courageously and consistently exposed the scandal of almost 2,000 illegal rental cars in Berlin, and is the champion for a fare corridor and minimum fares in Berlin.

Tino Schopf accepted the honor with noticeable joy:

“I simply say thank you and am aware of many who support this necessary clarification work. Only together can we achieve change here.”

The SPD parliamentary group chairman Raed Saleh added:

“We are very proud of Tino and are pleased that his commitment is also recognized by the taxi and rental car sectors.”

Economic Senator Franziska Giffey fully agreed with this praise. Mobility policy in Berlin is unthinkable without Tino Schopf. He makes transport policy with passion.
