TMV: Four Points for the Taxi

The Taxi and Rental Car Association (TMV) advocates for the creation of reliable mobility offerings and makes demands to the coalition members of the Union and SPD: For the public transport taxi, more participation, the expansion of local transport, and against Uber & Co.

According to TMV, mobility services for rural areas and suburban regions, as well as during evening hours and weekends, should be significantly expanded. Additionally, there should be a noticeably improved schedule during the day, and unrestricted mobility participation for people with disabilities, especially those who rely on wheelchairs, is necessary.

The four points of the TMV:

1. The Deutschland-Ticket is basically an attractive financial offer - but only where a functioning network already exists. Because what use is a Deutschland-Ticket if there are no connections to your own village? Many people in rural areas, who cannot afford a car, rightly feel left behind and can only participate inadequately in social and cultural life. According to the TMV, within the framework of a new edition of the expansion and modernization pact for public transport with a significant increase in regionalization funds, the public transport offer should be expanded especially in rural and suburban areas to ensure real mobility justice. For this, the Deutschland-Ticket should be expanded to a "Deutschland-Ticket plus (Taxi)" by nationally promoting the public transport taxi. This could provide an attractive and flexible mobility offer during times of low demand (especially in the evenings and on weekends).

2. Social participation and good, affordable mobility offers are two sides of the same coin. Therefore, the question of a sufficient supply of inclusion taxis is a task for society as a whole. Analogous to the free transport of severely disabled people in public transport, it is important to include the inclusion taxi as an original component of public transport in the Social Security Code in order to achieve a low-bureaucracy solution for the eligible passengers, for companies, and for the state.

3. In order to ensure fair framework conditions for taxi companies as part of public transport, the predatory competition with the corporate predators from Uber & Co must be shown the red card. The spokesperson for transport and mobility of the SPD in the Berlin House of Representatives, Tino Schopf, has uncovered that in the capital city alone, there were 1,700 illegal rental cars on the road, through his persistent investigative work. An important approach for fair framework conditions is to create a tariff corridor for taxis along with minimum tariffs for rental cars. Since many cities and districts are also hesitant due to legal uncertainties, a guideline for implementation from the federal political side is needed for the municipalities.

4. Especially the associations could contribute to more mobility justice and bring practical expertise. Therefore, the TMV wants to introduce the idea of a Mobility Council to the coalition members, where important issues could be discussed together in advance. According to the taxi association, this would also lead to a new culture in the interaction between the ministry and the associations.
