Chemnitz raises taxi tariffs in two stages by 2027.
The Chemnitz City Council on 19 March 2026 approved an increase in taxi tariffs in the mandatory-service area. The adjustment will be carried out in two stages. The background, according to the city, are higher minimum wages as well as higher operating costs in the taxi trade.

In addition to the fare increase, the city is introducing new payment requirements. In the future, cashless payment should be possible upon request in every taxi. The companies must accept debit cards and allow at least three credit cards commonly used in business transactions.
