BVL and VDA: Automotive Logistics Forum 2025 opened in Dresden

Supply chains need to become more resilient, modern battery technology must scale up in Europe, and artificial intelligence is fundamentally changing logistics. "The new age of exploration – all hands on deck," is the theme at the Automotive Logistics Forum 2025 (FAL), which the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and the German Logistics Association (BVL) opened today.

Over the next two days, around 300 participants and experts from logistics, supply chain management, and automotive production will gather in Dresden. The focus is on exchange and debate about the development and relevance of new digital technologies.

Transformation of Supply Chains Requires New Strategies

“The major economies of this world are competing for supremacy in new technologies - and increasingly isolating themselves from one another. However, increasing protectionism also slows down the development of the best technologies – ultimately endangering growth, prosperity, and jobs – and harming the climate due to delayed or absent innovations. It is all the more important to use Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and automation, with which we can not only meet the complexity of global supply chains but also operate more sustainably,” said VDA Managing Director Dr. Marcus Bollig.

Kai Althoff, Chairman of the BVL Board: “No other industry is undergoing a similar transformation as the automotive sector. Geopolitical shifts, the issue of semiconductor supply, challenging location and infrastructure conditions, as well as difficult-to-predict sales developments further pose challenges for the industry. Logistics is the linchpin for everything and must successfully accompany the changes. This year's Automotive Logistics Forum is programmatically dedicated to precisely this complexity. ‘All hands on deck’: We must work together to move the automotive industry forward in Germany and Europe.”
