VSPV joins the Alliance of Associations and strengthens the voice of the taxi and rental car industry.

The Association of Private Commercial Road Passenger Transport NRW (VSPV) will intensify its political work at the federal level going forward. The association has joined the Alliance of Associations (AdV), a coalition of small- and medium-sized organizations from different sectors that jointly represent their interests to policymakers and public administration.

For VSPV managing director Sascha Waltemate, the move is a logical one. Patrick Meinhardt has already sat on the board of Allianz representing the taxi and rental-car sector for three years. The VSPV's membership now formally creates the necessary unity. Especially on central issues such as regulation, infrastructure, or economic framework conditions, it has become evident that lone voices achieve little. Joint actions such as the Wirtschaftswarntag with the Initiative Neue Soziale Marktwirtschaft would have demonstrated how effective coordinated action can be.

The Alliance grows

Even within the Alliance, joining is understood as a signal. The board's spokesperson, Tino Barth, speaks of growing solidarity among the mid-sized associations. Questions of mobility and infrastructure are increasingly at the center of political debates. The VSPV's professional perspective could enrich these discussions—and strengthen the Alliance's overall position. Political influence arises, Barth says, primarily through a united front in Berlin and Brussels.

“The topic of infrastructure and mobility is increasingly gaining importance,” explains Barth. “If our expertise through the VSPV can be further strengthened and expanded here as well, that is very much in line with the aims of our umbrella association.”

Patrick Meinhardt, General Authorized Signatory of Allianz and head of Allianz's capital city office, reinforces the importance of cooperation: Whoever believes they can push through their concerns on their own underestimates the political mechanisms. Only the consolidated voice of many associations provides access to ministries and parliaments. Joint letters, backed by numerous organizations, still carry weight. Events such as the Economic Summer, which this year will take place on September 4 in the Bundestag, should further deepen this exchange.

“Anyone who believes that one can push through their topics alone does not know Berlin, and Brussels even less,” Meinhardt continued. “A joint letter from 20 associations with the signatures of 20 presidents and 20 managing directors to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs or the Federal Minister of Transport still achieves the most and opens closed doors. If the alliance of associations did not exist, it would have to be invented.”

With the accession of the VSPV, the alliance grows not only numerically. It also gains thematic breadth—and underscores the claim to coordinate and permanently bring the interests of small and medium-sized enterprises into the political debate.
