VW consolidates fuel and charging card business
Europe's largest car manufacturer, Volkswagen, is merging its fuel and charging card business for electric cars and combustion engines. The previous fuel card subsidiary, Logpay Transport Services, will be combined with the charging card sector of the group's division, Elli, the company announced.
The new subsidiary is expected to launch on March 1 under the name Elli Mobility. The headquarters will be the current Logpay location in Eschborn near Frankfurt.
Fewer Duplicate Structures
The merger aims, among other things, to reduce duplicate structures. Additionally, they want to facilitate the transition from combustion engines to electric vehicles for customers, especially fleet operators. The merger is still subject to the necessary regulatory approvals and clearances.
Offer of Fuel Cards
Logpay was founded in 2002, and Logpay Transport Services has been part of Volkswagen Financial Services since 2017, initially as a majority and since 2019 at 100 percent. In addition to traditional fuel cards for combustion engine fleets, the company also offers charging cards for electric vehicles, in cooperation with Elli. The charging network brand Elli was established by VW in 2018 in anticipation of the launch of the ID electric vehicle family.
