TMV meets Michael Donth – and presses for reforms to the PBefG

TMV President Thomas Kroker and Office Manager Nico Höttges met with CDU Member of the Bundestag Michael Donth, who has for years belonged to the Bundestag's Transport Committee. At the center of the discussion was a comprehensive position paper by the association. In it, the TMV formulates concrete requests for amendments to the Passenger Transport Act (PBefG), to the Regulation on the Operation of Motor Vehicle Companies in Passenger Transport (BOKraft), and to the Professional Access Regulation for Road Passenger Transport (PBZugV).

Practical, practice-oriented legal framework demanded

The meeting shows how intensely the industry is currently vying for political attention. Many companies are increasingly burdened by rising competitive pressure, new digital intermediary models, and increasing requirements. Accordingly, there is a strong desire for clearer and, from the association's perspective, more practical legal framework conditions.

According to TMV, Donth evaluated the presented paper as “extremely successful” and signaled substantive agreement in several points. At the same time, the transportation policy maker made it clear that larger statutory changes were unlikely to be expected in the short term. For the current year, there is initially only a smaller evaluation of the Passenger Transport Act planned in the Bundestag.

There will be no major changes to the PBefG for the time being

As a result, the political reform process is likely to proceed more slowly than many entrepreneurs would wish. The association nevertheless relies on continuity in the political dialogue.

“We are pleased with the positive response to our proposals,” TMV President Kroker said after the meeting.
