PBefG amendment, public transport taxi and inclusion: TMV in dialogue with SPD transport politician Detlef Müller

The President of the TMV, Thomas Kroker, and the Chief Executive Officer of the TMV, Patrick Meinhardt, met with the Deputy Chairman of the SPD Parliamentary Group, Detlef Müller, before Christmas. Müller is responsible for transport policy in Berlin.

In a small circle, topics that concern taxi entrepreneurs were discussed. According to Meinhardt, Müller has proven to be a trustworthy companion for the taxi and rental car industry in recent years. However, in response to Thomas Kroker's question about whether a revision of the Passenger Transport Act is being considered, the SPD politician made it clear that this is not currently on the agenda. However, Müller, Kroker, and Meinhardt agreed that concrete improvements must be discussed after the evaluation at the end of 2025.

Still no progress on the Small Expertise

On the topic of PBefG, Kroker and Meinhardt promised to pass on existing experience. Regarding the Small Expertise, the dissatisfaction of the TMV board was palpable. Kroker and Meinhardt once again expressed their displeasure that to this day - 40 months after the adoption of the Passenger Transport Act - there is no progress for the Small Expertise. The expertise is practically dead, complained Kroker.

“We need to talk about the public transport taxi. We need to talk about the actual promotion of taxis as part of public transport,” said Kroker.

Detlef Müller emphasized the high level of agreement with the TMV's key points paper for the federal election. There was also consensus on the public transport taxi.

"I am pleased with the expertise of the TMV. We are jointly advocating for the taxi to truly be part of public transport and to be treated as such," Müller explained. "And here the trusting collaboration with the professionals from the associations is enormously important. With the TMV, this is achieved excellently. The issue of the public transport taxi will certainly be a focus of the upcoming legislative period, regardless of how the federal government is composed."

“Heartfelt Issue” Inclusion Taxi

Regarding the topic significant to the TMV of anchoring inclusion taxis as a societal responsibility in the Social Code, Patrick Meinhardt found agreement with Müller, although he was aware that this would not be realized in a short period. However, Meinhardt stated that the path of persuasion had already been taken to achieve substantial progress in this regard over the next four years.
