Taxi fare dispute in MV: The trade lowers its demand to €2.20 per kilometer.
In the months-long tariff dispute over the reimbursement of patient transports in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, a rapprochement between the taxi- and rental-car industry and the statutory health insurance funds is emerging. As the state association of the taxi- and rental-car industry Mecklenburg-Vorpommern stated, it has again lowered its demand for patient transports and now demands 2.20 euros per kilometer.
Previously, the industry had initially demanded 3.20 euros and, in a further step, 2.90 euros per kilometer. With the now clearly reduced demand, the association said it wanted to send a signal for a quick agreement.
Temporary agreement planned until the end of the year
According to the association, a corresponding remuneration agreement should initially be limited to the end of the year. During this period, a new joint framework agreement between the parties involved should be negotiated. If necessary, mediators could also be involved.
The contractual associations of the statutory health and substitute funds in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern welcomed the new offer and announced that they would review it and promptly submit a counteroffer. Recently, the funds had offered €2.10 per kilometer and a surcharge of €2 per patient transport.
Majority of companies accept the health funds' offer
According to the funds, more than 250 of the total 450 companies that carry out non-medical patient transports in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have already accepted the current offer. The care of the insured should be ensured without unduly burdening the contribution rates, the funds associations explained.
For comparison, in January AOK Nordost and the Brandenburg Working Group for Transportation Services agreed to an average increase in remuneration of just under ten percent.
Taxi companies dominate patient transports
According to the association, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern almost 80 percent of patient transports are carried out by taxi companies without medically necessary accompaniment. For months, both sides have been arguing over fares that, from the industry's perspective, do not cover costs, such as for trips to dialysis, to chemotherapy or radiotherapy, to outpatient treatments, or after discharge from hospital.
In March, both sides had initially declared the negotiations to have failed. At the beginning of April, according to the association, around 200 taxi companies participated in a protest ride in Schwerin. In several regions of the country, this is expected to have resulted in up to 2,000 patient transport trips being canceled.
Care provision largely secured according to the health insurers
The health insurance funds, however, emphasized that the provision of patient transport for insured persons had been largely secured despite the pressure measures by individual companies. Insured persons had in most cases been redirected to other providers. Even companies that had not yet signed the new tariff agreements were now again transporting insured persons. There have been no significant supply problems so far, according to the health insurers. (Source: Nordkurier)
