Together with the renowned project partners the Canton of Zurich, SBB, and the Swiss Transit Lab, ioki pursues the goal of further improving mobility in rural areas and strengthening the connection to public transport.

Test phase starts in spring 2025

From spring 2025, autonomous vehicles will be used in the Furttal region in the canton of Zurich to transport passengers flexibly and comfortably to the destination of the pilot region. The vehicles from Nissan, equipped with autonomous driving technology from WeRide, can be ordered via a passenger app developed by ioki and complement the existing public transport offering.

For this purpose, ioki also provides the on-demand software for booking and route planning of the autonomous vehicles in addition to the passenger app.

Public Transport Transformation: On-Demand and Autonomous

With more than 150 successfully implemented on-demand projects across Europe and over seven million passengers, the tech company from Germany proves that it can deliver pioneering mobility solutions. ioki's software calculates the most efficient routes for autonomous vehicles based on demand and vehicle location. The digital booking of autonomous vehicles in regular service and on-demand traffic ("on-demand") is also done via ioki's passenger app.

Michael Barillère-Scholz, CEO of ioki, emphasizes: "We are very pleased to be part of this pioneering project. With our on-demand technology, we make an important contribution to improving mobility in rural areas. The development of future mobility concepts is essential to advance the digital and sustainable transformation in public transport."
