Celebrate Carnival – but safely: Health department distributes condoms with local taxi companies

HIV and sexually transmitted infections remain a relevant issue. In Germany, approximately 96,700 people currently live with HIV, but around 10% are unaware of their infection (Source: RKI). To educate about risks and protection options, the Mühldorf a. Inn health department is once again conducting a prevention campaign "Celebrate Carnival – But Safely" this year.

Information brochures for passengers

In collaboration with several taxi companies in the district, information brochures on HIV and other sexually transmitted infections will be distributed to evening and night passengers during the carnival days. These include information on transmission routes and protection options, as well as a condom each. This campaign aims to raise awareness of the risks of unprotected sex and emphasize the importance of safer sex.

Before the Curtains Fall - Safer Sex

Unprotected sexual intercourse remains the main cause of transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Particularly during festive phases, alcohol consumption or a carefree mood can lead to neglecting protective measures, causing not only inhibitions but also costumes to fall. Condoms are the most effective protection against HIV and sexually transmitted diseases.

The campaign, in cooperation with the taxi companies Blitz Taxi, Christianes's Taxi, Taxi Enzo, and Taxi Huber, aims to contribute to raising public awareness on the topic and encourage people to inform themselves about protective measures and testing options.
