Taxi instead of bus: How visitors will get to the Isarphilharmonie in the future

By switching to large-capacity taxis, MVG is responding to underutilized buses between the parking garage and Gasteig HP8. The shuttle is intended to improve comfort, but the high parking fees remain unchanged.

MVG is discontinuing the existing bus route 97 between Gasteig HP8 and the Wholesale Flower Market. On the route, which in its latter half often ran without passengers, taxi shuttles will be used in the future.

Premiere in September

The new large-capacity taxis will operate for the first time on September 9 and 10. The occasion is the first concerts by the Munich Philharmonic after the summer break, featuring works by Edward Elgar, Franz Schubert, and Richard Wagner.

Regular operations on event days

After the premiere, the shuttles will run on all days with events at the Isarphilharmonie. The starting point is the parking garage at the wholesale flower market, about a 15-minute walk from the venue. From there, the vehicles take visitors free of charge and within a few minutes directly to House K on Hans-Preißinger-Straße. Access to Hall E, the foyer of the Isarphilharmonie, is only a few steps away from there.

Identification and operating hours

The vehicles in service can be recognized by green flags. After the events end, the shuttles remain available for one hour for the return trip to the wholesale flower market.

Accessibility and alternatives

The taxis are not suitable for transporting wheelchair users. To compensate, Gasteig points to 14 designated disabled parking spaces at the HP8 site.

Parking fees at the Flower Wholesale Market

Using the parking spaces incurs comparatively high costs. Parking costs €10 for four hours; each additional hour or part thereof is charged at €3.50. For longer stays, for example as part of late-night programs, the fees quickly add up to €17. For comparison: In the Mönchsberg Garage at the Salzburg Festival, eight hours of parking cost €6.60.
