Lawsuit leads to changes: Uber stops misleading price range
Uber has submitted a cease-and-desist declaration and committed to removing the display of a price range for taxi rides in Hannover in the Uber app in the future. The decision was made following a warning from Hallo Taxi 3811 GmbH.
Discrepancies in Price Display
The warning was issued due to discrepancies in the display of the price range for taxi rides in the Uber app. The indicated range did not match the actual fare payable. It turned out that the actual price for the ride was always below the indicated price range, which could lead to confusion among users.
Legal Steps and Resolution
Hallo Taxi 3811 GmbH sought legal advice on this matter and proceeded against Uber through Schalast Law Firm. Dr. Lars Maritzen, a partner at the firm, led the legal actions. Uber responded to the warning and changed the display of the price range in the app.
Impact on Competition in Hannover
With the change in price display in the Uber app, the competitive conditions in Hannover are seen as fairer by Hallo Taxi 3811 GmbH. The next challenge lies in the establishment of minimum fares and the introduction of an obligation to use distance meters for rental cars. These measures would further improve competition.
