Think Tank 2025: Farewell to Michael Müller – TMV honors visionary and fighter for the trade
The Taxi- and Rental Car Association Germany e.V. (TMV) mourns its founder and honorary president Michael Müller. In a eulogy, Patrick Meinhardt, TMV's chief executive, recalled the decades-long commitment and Müller's formative role for Germany's taxi- and rental-car sector. Müller died on Sunday last week.
Over four decades of commitment to the trade
Michael Müller devoted more than 40 years of his life to the taxi- and rental-car industry. He led for more than a decade the Taxi and Rental Car Specialist Association within the General Association of the Transport Trades in Lower Saxony (GVN) as state chairman and represented its interests as vice president in the General Association.
In the German Taxi- and Rental Car Association (BZP), Müller was active on the presidium for more than ten years. In 2019 he was among the co-founders of the Taxi- and Rental Car Association Germany e.V. (TMV) and led it as president, before he was named honorary president after his illness.
Shapers with a clear stance and technical depth
In his speech, Meinhardt Müller described himself as a technically proficient and rhetorically strong representative of the trade. Also in political discussions Müller has always impressed with clarity, expertise, and respect. His passion for the trade, his reliability, and his visions had made him a formative figure.
Müller remained closely connected with the association even during his illness and attended meetings up until the end—from the home office, the clinic or rehabilitation.
Guiding principles and the association's understanding
Müller's goal was to build an association that cooperates constructively with politics and builds sustainable networks with other organizations. The TMV should, in his understanding, represent equally the interests of entrepreneurs, employees, and customers, and in doing so take into account the concerns of urban and rural areas.
Remembrance and Appreciation
During the funeral service, Meinhardt urged those present to sign the condolence book. Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder announced that on November 7 he would also sign an entry in the ministry to express his appreciation.
The remembrance event transitioned into the opening of the TMV Think Tank by the incumbent president Thomas Kroker, who thus continues the work and ideas of Michael Müller. (Source: TMV)
