Munich’s taxi industry is once again taking part this year in the “Safe Oktoberfest for Girls and Women” campaign at Oktoberfest. The initiative provides women and girls in emergency situations with free taxi vouchers for a safe ride home.

Long-standing partnership

For more than 20 years, the IsarFunk taxi dispatch center has been a partner of the campaign. The company also draws attention to the support service on the digital rooftop displays of its vehicles.

“We have been a partner of the campaign for over 20 years and want to enable a safe ride home for girls and women in need again this year,”

says Christian Hess, managing director of IsarFunk.

Support center on the festival grounds

A central component of the initiative is the so-called "Safe Space" on the Oktoberfest grounds. There, affected individuals receive advice, support, and, if needed, help arranging a safe journey home. In recent years, more than 300 women and girls have visited this support center each year.

Common reasons for assistance

Many affected individuals needed help because they had lost their wallet or had been victims of theft. Thanks to cooperation with IsarFunk, they were nevertheless able to get home safely and free of charge.

Christian Hess:

“Even though times are anything but rosy for the taxi industry, we are continuing to take part in the ‘Sichere Wiesn für Mädchen und Frauen’ initiative. It’s important for local companies to commit to women’s safety.”
