Mercedes E-Class with panoramic view – at Intax there’s the T-Class with a panoramic sunroof as a taxi

The new generation of the E-Class, internally designated as the W214 series, has been on the market since mid-2023. The W214 generation is based on Mercedes-Benz's Modular Rear Architecture (MRA2), which enables rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and, in particular, integrates mild-hybrids as well as plug-in hybrid drivetrains. The sedan offers approximately 540 liters of cargo space in the trunk; the T-model achieves around 615 liters – with folded rear seats up to 1,675 liters. In terms of the suspension, the front uses a multi-link suspension, the rear uses five-link suspensions; optional are air suspension ("AIRMATIC") as well as all-wheel steering.

In everyday use, the newer powertrains of the W214 appear as a solid basis for taxi use. A mild-hybrid can, for example in real-world operation, save fuel, provide quietness and comfort. In November we will extensively test a Mercedes E-Class T‑Model as a diesel mild-hybrid in the editorial office.

The W214 presents itself inside with a large display (infotainment and instrument cluster) and a modern, clear layout. For drivers, this means: modern driver-assistance systems — such as a digital rear-view mirror or surround-view camera — and a high-quality ambience.

From a taxi perspective, what matters is rear-seat comfort, ease of getting in and out, and space. Here the estate offers noticeable advantages over the sedan. The flexible seats in the wagon layout are also a plus.
