On May 15, 2025, the Financial Control of Illegal Employment of the Main Customs Office in Dresden conducted random inspections in the taxi and rental car industry. More than 30 customs officers were deployed. The measure was carried out on the basis of the Act to Combat Illegal Employment.

Inspections in East Saxony

In the East Saxony region, the inspections focused on the cities of Bautzen, Görlitz, Zittau, and Weißwasser. A total of 42 taxis were inspected there. Of these, 30 drivers worked for 22 companies, while 12 drivers were self-employed. In three cases, indications of violations against the applicable minimum wage regulations were found.

Inspections in Leipzig

Drivers were also checked in the Leipzig area. The inspections included 21 taxis and rental cars in the city and on the surrounding roads. In five cases, customs discovered possible minimum wage violations.

Background

The objective of the inspections was to uncover illegal employment and violations of labor law regulations. The measures are intended to ensure fair competition conditions and combat illegal work.
