The City of Wil is inviting bids for 15 taxi licenses for five years.

The city of Wil in Switzerland is inviting bids for 15 permits to use the public taxi stand spaces at the train station for the years 2027 to 2031. Interested taxi companies as well as other natural and legal persons may submit their complete application documents by 30 October 2026 at 16:00. According to the city, the currently valid permits will expire at the end of 2026.

The basis for awarding the licenses is the municipal taxi regulations. The permits in Category A are valid for five years each. Their number is limited to a total of 15 due to orderly traffic and urban land-use planning. The new permit period begins on 1 January 2027 and ends on 31 December 2031.

Minimum Requirements for Applicants

For the award of the contract, fixed minimum requirements apply. Applicants must, among other things, possess a Category B driving license with an aptitude certificate for professional passenger transport.

In addition, the city requires a current criminal record extract as well as an extract from the Register for Administrative Measures. Persons whose mother tongue is not German must also demonstrate German language skills at the B1 level.

Point system for more than 15 applications

If more valid applications are received than approvals available, the city conducts the selection using a point system. Several criteria are taken into account in the assessment.

Among other things, the areas considered include ecology and vehicle fleet, operational reliability and presence, service quality and professionalism, as well as social sustainability. Thus, in addition to the formal requirements, operational and qualitative criteria are also taken into account in the awarding.
