Munich's Women's Night Taxi continues – but only for certain groups

The circular administration committee of the Munich City Council has decided to continue the offering of night taxi vouchers for women. The city will continue to subsidize nightly taxi rides for women with an amount of ten euros. The subsidy can be used daily from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Restriction to specific target groups

In the future, however, the offer will only be available to women* with lower financial means. A prerequisite for claiming the vouchers is the appropriate proof of eligibility. Accepted forms of proof include, among others, a student ID, a retiree or pensioner's ID, a disability ID, the Munich Pass, or the Azubi-Card from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).

Anja Berger, City Councilor The Greens/Rosa Liste/Volt:

“Many women* feel safer when they can take a taxi home at night. However, for those who have less money available, this is often simply unaffordable. Therefore, it is an important signal that we can now continue the night taxi vouchers for women* with a tight budget. And this at a time when the budget presents us with challenges.”
