Cashless and stress-free: Pre-payment in taxi app launched
Starting in August 2025, passengers on the Taxi Berlin app and later on the taxi.eu app will have a new payment option available: the advance payment of the taxi fare. This function is intended to simplify the payment process for customers and drivers and to enable cashless payment before the ride starts.
How advance payment works
Passengers now have the option to confirm the payment in advance when ordering a fixed-price taxi. Payment is authorized in advance, including a possible tip of up to 20%. The option to activate automatic payment offers users additional flexibility and security.
For the driver, the order becomes visible through the driver app, including an order code (e.g., 444) that serves to identify the passenger. Before the ride begins, the driver must query the passenger's order code and ensure that it matches the booking.
Completion of the Ride and Automatic Payment
Once the destination is reached, the driver taps "arrived" and "vacant" in the app. The passenger can then decide whether to leave a tip. To complete the payment, the customer only needs to activate the "end ride" function. If, for various reasons, the passenger does not immediately end the ride, they have up to 72 hours to do so and also to set the tip.
After this period, the previously set tip amount will be automatically calculated, and the payment will be completed.
